Microchipping

It is now a legal requirement to have your dog microchipped, just in case the worst should happen and they go missing.  The procedure involves injecting a small transponder about the size of a grain of rice into the scruff of the dog's neck.  This chip has a unique ID number which is stored along with your name and contact details on a database with a company called petlog.

We also recommend microchipping our feline friends too!, especially outdoor cats.

If your pet gets lost and is taken to the police, a vet or the dog warden, they will be scanned, petlog will be phoned with the chip ID and you will be contacted as soon as possible.

Microchipping costs between £10 and £15 for the life of the dog which is a small price to pay for the peace of mind that it brings.  Once the chip has been implanted, you will be required to come to the vet 10 days later for a scan so we can check it is working. After that, your details will be sent to Petlog and you will be covered for life.

It is worth remembering that your contact details MUST be updated with Petlog should they change, this is required to keep the details held on file current.
